Meet Teresa Long
Teresa McCumbee Long grew up in Tabor City, NC where her mother was a textile factory worker and her father an insurance salesman. She was saved at the age of fifteen and graduated from Tabor City High School in 1969. That same year, she married Pastor Kenneth Long and began attending Southeastern Community College.
She and Kenneth later moved to Monroe. While living there, Teresa completed a three-year discipleship training program through the Southern Baptist Convention, started a ministry to battered women, and helped with the Union County Jail ministry Kenneth started. A couple of scriptures have stood out to Teresa along her journey, including John 13:34-35 above:
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
Psalm 46:1
Teresa acknowledges the constant goodness of the Lord in her life, consistently reflecting this gratitude through tireless ministry work within the church and the broader community. Teresa finds great joy "singing and making melody to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:19) with the church choir. Some of her favorite hymns are "I Believe in a Hill Called Mount Calvary" and "Sweet Beulah Land."
She enjoys the writings of Paul and Luke. Her preferred study Bibles are The Charles E. Stanley Life Principles Bible and the Life Application Bible. Her favorite Bible app is Bible Hub. Both Teresa and Pastor Long are thankful for their two children, Ken Long, Jr. (now living in Leland, NC) and Kelley Long Wolf (in Apex, NC), along with their five grandchildren: Garrett Long, Eva Long, Warren Long, Jadon Wolf, and Kendall Wolf.
